Loving your neighbor

Today was our last work day at the parsonage and it was bittersweet! We accomplished more than Pastor Freddy could have imagined, and yet we still want to do more. We wanted their home to be as close to move-in ready as it could be. But if I look back at the before and after pictures, I am reminded of the love given through this week. There was a lot of sweat, a little blood and a few sicknesses, but we gave it all we had! We installed all the electricity, primed and painted the entire house inside and out, hung ceilings in 90% of the house and made metal window coverings FROM SCRATCH!

Turning this cement block building into a home is an incredible honor! Working hand-and-hand with our Honduran friends made for an incredible week! We laughed, we told jokes (through translators or Google translate), we taught each other words in the opposite language, and we had so much fun!

We also loved on A LOT of kids! We visited two schools, hosted vacation Bible adventure at three churches and played and interacted with kids in the village we were working in.

But there was one special little guy by the name of Wesley. He is the son of Pastor Alex and his wife Luz. They travelled around with us all week and I am blown away for this sweet little guy. He will be 3 years old in September and you never would have know he was that young because he was quiet as a mouse! He is incredible sweet and so funny. Before I left home, the Lord put something on Trevor’s heart to make a special 3D printer lizard because there was going to be a very special kid on my trip. After praying and watching for the special kid, it was clear the kiddo was Wesley!

We ended the night with a women’s event called Daighters of the King. Women from our partner churches came and we sang songs, read scripture, and heard many testimonies. We were able to bless each woman with a handful of gifts before the women leaders of the church circled around us to lay their hands on us to pray. I have NEVER felt so much love flow into me as I did in that prayer circle! These women are powerhouse and they are on fire for the Lord! Afterwards they each gave us hugs and they held me so tight and spoke love and encouraging words intil my soul. These ladies were the kindest, sweetest, most welcoming ladies I have ever met. I walked out of that prayer circle with tears because the Lords presence was so strong in that moment because the Daughters of the King were obident to his greatest commandment.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31

Tomorrow we will travel back to the city the airport is located in. We will get to experience a Honduran market before heading home on Sunday. But the beauty of fellowship and discipleship is that it doesn’t end when we leave Honduras, it’s an every day things. I can’t wait to continue to love my neightbor and I love myself.
