The Call to “Go”

Last year, I started to feel the Lord nudge me about going on a missions trip. Up until now, the timing never worked for our family. I prayed that if this was the right time, that the Lord would open the doors, and He has!

When I committed the trip, the only information I had were the dates and the location. My calendar was free and that was all I needed to know. It’s one of the very few times when I said yes with child-like faith. Once I received more of the details, I laughed at myself, knowing I would have overthought the decision and was thankful the Lord took that burden from me!

When I said yes to go to Hondorus, I thought to myself “this is going to be a very personal, private journey in which I will spend little-to-no time with technology. I will be still and listen.” Well, since then, I have heard “take them along with you” over and over again! When I’ve prayed for clarity as to what He desires, the Lord put two things are my heart (and not at the same time).

First, it was to share our material needs to bless families in Hondorus. We created a wish list of needs and shared it with friends and family on social media. https://www.myregistry.com/wishlist/destiny-tomlin-/4295170 At first it was slow, but the Lord reminded me to have faith and He will provide. I made my personal purchase of supplies and the blessings started rolling in! It reminds me of the “two fish and five loaves” story in John 6:1-15. When we give what we have and believe the Lord will provide, He multiples our offering with abundance! I will post pictures and a total count of the blessings sent as I pack, but I’m already blown away with your kindness and God’s faithfulness!

Second, the Lord put this blog on my heart a couple of weeks ago. Many of you reached out to ask about my trip, excited to hear the details, and sharing that you are living vicariously through me. This touched me so much! It was amazing to see how God is using this trip to connect with you about Him and how He is working in each of our lives! He also gave me an opportunity to share his faithfulness on social media recently and it was so therapeutic! After careful prayer and discernment, it became very clear to me that the Lord wanted me to bring you all along via an online journal! I hope you follow along and God reveals Himself to you during our Faithful Journey!
