We make a good team and a good “body of Christ”

Today was very similar to yesterday - we worked on the parsonage (a home owned by the church for pastors to live in), we taught Vacation Bible Adventure (VBA), and we ate delicious food at one of the pastor’s home.

The parsonage is coming along great. Most of the electricity is installed, we finished priming the walls and have only a handful of walls left to paint and a majority of the window covers were made (by hand!) and installed.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the Hondurans! They were incredibly sweet, selfless and welcoming! I’ve tried to use more Spanish and they are so kind and patient with me! They also want to learn like I do, so they tell me how to say something in Spanish and then I tell them how to say it in English. There have been so many laughs at failed attempts, but the want to learn and beauty of their hearts makes every moment in 90+ degree weather, in long pants and shirt, and no air conditioning, completely worth it!

We have felt nothing but love and appreciation since we arrived! This year is the 10th year our church has partnered with this community and two of the churches honored the group with plaques and banners to show how much they appreciate the relationship and partnership to grow God’s kingdom! There we many happy tears shed!

Vacation Bible Adventure continues to blow my mind! The kids are SO excited and participste with incredible joy! Take a look for yourself!

As the days progress, I find myself watching God connect the dots as to why each and everyone of us are here. I thought countless times before the trip “I don’t know what Gods me to do because building houses is not on my resume and I don’t speak Spanish.” But even in questioning my purpose, I still wanted to “go” in evidence. It’s amazing to watch each person live out their God-given gifts! My perfection gets pretty loud sometimes though, and I tell myself “I can’t believe I didn’t do that correctly” or “I should have remembered to do ____.” But recently I read the scripture below again and it reminded me that we weren’t designed to be able to or be great at everything. God gave each of us gifts to be used to spread His word and that means we can’t have all the gifts. The verse below helps put my perfectionist voice back in her box!

“I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels. Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God. ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭2‬-‭16‬ ‭

Tomorrow we will head back to the parsonage, teacher VBA and eat dinner with the local fire department. I look forward to telling you made about the fire station and our relationship with them tomorrow.

P.s. I will post new pictures and videos to previous posts once I have access to them. I will let you know when they are available!

¡hasta luego!

(See you later)
